Over time, the original hood prop retainer on the G1 Honda Insight tends to crack or loosen and fall out, making it difficult to secure the hood prop rod. Leaving the hood prop to flop around causes paint damage, and I have not been able to find a suitable replacement.
This replacement retainer is a direct 3D-printed solution designed to restore reliable function while improving on the original design.
The retainer rotates and locks into place. It looks just like the factory part, but with slightly thicker walls. It presses into the existing mounting point without modification, then rotates 90 degrees to lock in place. Once installed, the hood prop rod can be secured easily and stays put when stowed.
The part is printed in durable ABS that can handle temperature changes and mechanical stress. If your original clip is missing or broken, this replacement is an affordable, effective fix that blends in with the factory hardware.
